2014 ended nicely for me. My free promotion of Darkness Rising on Amazon got over 2,000 downloads. Readers are already adding their reviews and buying book two. It’s a lovely way to end one year and begin another. An emailing service called BookSCREAM (@BookSCREAM) picked up the promotion, and I’m guessing about three quarters of my downloads were due to that. So thanks, BookSCREAM, and my fellow authors, keep an eye out for them. They’re an up-and-comer worth watching. Happy […]
Yesterday, someone bought the 250th copy of Darkness Rising: Book One of The Catmage Chronicles. I feel like this deserves some kind of celebration, but I have no idea how to find the buyer. Tell you what: If the person who bought the Kindle version of the book on Sunday, June 23rd (possibly bought on Saturday and it took a few hours to come through in my report) comes forward with some kind of proof of purchase, I’ll send him […]

MAY is my month. MAY Publishing is my publishing house, and MAY are my initials. And because it’s my month, I have put The Catmage Chronicles ebook on sale at $2.99, and the trade paperback discounted as well. Gracie says: Buy my book! And she should know–she’s the model for Goldeneyes.
The trade paperback is no longer on sale at Amazon, though I did see an uptick in sales. Perhaps they’ll run a sale again sometime when more people know my book exists. The posters of the cover arrived on Monday and they are excellent. I’m going to have a friend help me mount them (translation: Sarah will mount the posters while I hand her things if she asks for them), as I am not crafty in the least. And the […]
Amazon put the paperback edition of Darkness Rising: Book One of The Catmage Chronicles on sale. If you wanted to buy it but weren’t happy with the price, it’s under $10 now. Darkness Rising: Book One of The Catmage Chronicles introduces a secret society of cats with human intelligence and magical abilities who have existed for thousands of years. They must find a way to work with eighth graders, who also have to deal with the real-world problems of bullies, […]

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. I’m supposed to be mature, cool, calm, and collected. And yet, my books arrived today. I promptly turned three around. One went to be reviewed by Glenn Reynolds. Two went to the Virginia Festival of the Book, in the hopes of being chosen as a panelist in one of the biggest book festivals on the east coast. In the meantime, enjoy the photo. I sure enjoyed getting the books today.
There isn’t much there, but all of you early adopters can go to my Facebook page. It’s public. I’m going to keep my Meryl Yourish account private, so I can keep on talking to my cousins in California about things no one else cares to read. The book is getting very, very close to published. I’m currently waiting for CreateSpace to let me know if I did it right. I’m also in the last phase of proofreading the ebook.
Well, the good news is I heard from my cover designer yesterday. I should have the final designs the end of this week or beginning of next. I sent the InDesign file to Neil, who is doing me the favor of turning my ms. into an ebook. And while I have definitely missed my mid-August publication deadline, well, it’s only by a couple of weeks. Next week, for sure, Darkness Rising will be out.
